Side Quest Labs ("we," "us") builds Palate, a social dining journal app. This policy explains what data Palate collects, why, and how it's handled. We don't sell your data, and we don't use it for advertising.
What we collect
- Account info. Your email address, via Sign in with Apple, used to create and secure your account.
- Phone number. Used only for contact matching. Your number is hashed (SHA-256) on your device before it ever reaches our servers — we store and match hashes, never raw numbers, and this never leaves the device unhashed.
- Content you create. Reviews, ratings, notes, tags, and photos you attach to a dish or restaurant.
- Account identifiers. An internal user ID, used to associate your content and follows with your account.
How we use it
All of the above is used strictly for app functionality: signing you in, syncing your reviews across devices, matching you with contacts who also use Palate, and displaying your content to the people who follow you (or, for restaurant/dish facts, to everyone). We do not use your data for advertising, third-party tracking, or analytics profiling, and we do not share it with third-party marketing partners.
Who can see what
Restaurant and dish facts (name, location, average rating) are visible to everyone. Your individual reviews and notes are visible only to people who follow you and whom you've accepted. Your email and phone number are never shown to other users.
Where it's stored
Data is stored with Supabase, our backend infrastructure provider, secured with row-level access controls so only you (and, where applicable, your accepted followers) can access your content.
Your choices
You can delete individual reviews at any time in the app. To delete your account and associated data entirely, contact us at the email below.
